  • I'm Forever Grateful

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever!

You did not wait for me
    to draw near to You
    But You clothed Yourself
    with frail humanity
You did not wait for me
    to cry out to You
But You let me hear Your Voice
    calling me
And I'm Forever Grateful to You
I'm Forever Grateful for The Cross
    I'm Forever Grateful to You
That You came to seek and save the lost

    (repeat all)

That You came to seek and save the lost

That lost one was me.  I want to give Him thanks and praise for His mercy and grace!

As some of you may know, I am continually exhorting myself and others to be thankful.

Thankfulness heals.  When we are hurt because of some slight or an insult from someone, be thankful that your worth is in God's love and acceptance of you when he made you His son.  The other person may not see you as God sees you...but whose estimation do you value most?  When He calls you His beloved son in whom He is pleased, is that not greater than the acclamation of any man?

Thankfulness restores.  When we've made a mess of our lives and ruined our relationships with others, God will forgive and not turn us away in our repentant pleas.  We can get up from our knees rejoicing that no longer are we to feel distant from Him.  Being forgiven means that we can risk the disbelief of others as we ask their forgiveness.  Whether or not they can forgive and forget, we know that our Father does.

Thankfulness brings peace.  Looking at what others have whether it is more than we have or less, will not bring peace.  Maybe we don't feel like rejoicing when others rejoice.  If we are angry because of their good fortune and believe that they don't deserve it, aren't we jeopardizing our own lot?  What of those who have less than we do?  Do we want them to have no peace or joy because we have more?  If so, we would be better off to become the poorest of the poor.

Thankfulness brings joy!  Look at the song above.  God does not wait until we are worthy before He makes His move to save us.  God does not withhold any good thing from us.  He knows us intimately.  His desire is for us.  He loves us.

    Isn't ingratitude a beggarly thing?

Yes, thankfulness does often solve many problems because we are such self-seeking creatures. Thankful so much that we are called His sons and daughters in Christ

@llamalima@xanga - You are so right!  That's why He tells us to "seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

For us to live in dissatisfaction and envy is unthinkable.  We have been given a heavenly vantage point so we can see the true value of things.

    Thanks for your comment!

@quest4god - Very true. More often than not, personally, i just need to stand still and be thankful of what has happened, what is to happen, and what is happening at present. It is very important to think about the heavenly context of the lives we live...thanks for the perspective.

    Thank you for the blog...=)

I read this earlier and am glad I came back. I needed to read it again.

The other person may not see you as God sees you...but whose estimation do you value most?  When He calls you His beloved son in whom He is
pleased, is that not greater than the acclamation of any man?

Once again God's hit me between the eyes: I was seeking the acclamation of men and my bubble's been burst. Though the Lord has been teaching me more and more about His love and helping me to know it, to know Him, I can see how little I know and how I must continue to pray to know the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ's love. O, to rest wholly in the love of God and not allow the words of men to ensnare and entangle me.

What a huge difference thankfulness makes in our lives!  I really appreciate your thoughts on the subject!  We can only fully appreciate the blessings of life when we cultivate the wholesome attitude of thankfulness!  It's impossible to feel thankful and resentful at the same moment!  A thankful person is much more pleasant to be around than a discontented person!

When I was younger, a song that we used to sing in church was, "Count your blessings!"  And they truly are more numerous than we can imagine, so that Scripture says they are as innumerable "as the sand which is upon the seashore!"

Thank you for your encouraging blog!

    @Grampa_David@xanga - You're  so welcome!

Thanksgiving season isn't the only time to give thanks, is it?  God is so good, and He is working all things for good for those of us who are His.

Sometimes we forget to thank Him, but when we reflect on His love for us we remember...

This is the best treatment of 'Thanksgiving' that I have ever read, and it is so true.

    Blessings

@FRANK - Thanks for your kind words...Every day should be "Thanksgiving" day, shouldn't it?

    yay!

This is a beautiful post. And what a difference thankfulness makes in our lives, knowing how much our Lord loves us, for who we are. I will re-read again to grasp the message again.

  • quest4god

@proudmomof_two - I appreciate your kind words...and the MINI!  First time, I think.

This message is what the Lord has been impressing on me, and He has been encouraging me to draw closer to Him so that I can really know Him.  I really can't find enough words to express the great joy I have found in Him.

Thank you, again, for your reply!

  • proudmomof_two

@quest4god -  Yes, sometimes I find, that words don't come easy, when you really want to express your joy.
