  • Thanks, Lord, from the Bottom of My Heart!

How can I keep from singing Your praise?

(A little introduction here:  I have been given an invitation to write a blog on praise and thanksgiving by Naphtali_deer@Xanga.  I should be writing this of my own volition, and probably would have, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity to praise and thank my Lord Jesus Christ, and I am glad to have you "listen in".  Please do.  Please share my joy!)

Thank you, Lord, first of all for redeeming me.  Your wonderful gift of Life which you purchased for me with Your blood at Calvary makes all my other thanks possible.  Without You, I would be nothing.  I wouldn't even know You.  I am so grateful to know that I am Your son...Your beloved.  *whisper of thanks here*

Thank you for my beautiful wife, another one You call beloved.  I have tried to show my thanks for her by showing her unselfish love, but my love can never come close to the love You have for her.  And my kids.  I recognized them as gifts from you from the first day I held each of them in the hospital.  Thank You, thank You, Lord.  You have multiplied my life on earth by many times through them.

Thank you Jesus for Your friends, my brothers and sisters in You.  You have taught me through them, You have loved me through them, You have encouraged me through them, and You have given them to me as gifts to cherish for all eternity.

Thank you Lord for the songs You have inspired...for the heights of joy and the depths of devotion expressed in the hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs given to me by Your children.  Thanks for the stories, movies, poems, and art that You have inspired your children to create out of love for You and to communicate that love to the watching, listening world.

Thank you Lord for your written Word.  The Word that Your Holy Spirit  moved on holy men of old to write so that we could come to know You and Your purpose for each of us.  Thank you for plainly dealing with our sins and lack of wisdom, teaching us, admonishing us, encouraging us.  Your Word is so beautiful! Who is like You O Lord?  There is none like You!

Thank you for the breath-taking beauty of Your creation!  I have seen a glimpse of Your glory in the depths of space - the mysterious stellar "clouds," the nebulae, the binary stars, the globular clusters, the comets, asteroids, planets...all I can do is stare in awe and wonder that You have made all this.  All creation comes from You and is for You!  Lest I forget, thank you Lord for the tiniest things: snow flakes, flowers, and animals...everything that you have created you have also given us the capacity to delight in them.

Thank you God for eternity.  Thank you for the place You have prepared for those of us who are your children.  Thank you in advance for the work you have prepared for me for all eternity.  Though I shall enter Your final rest, I shall not have to be idle...You will continue to teach me, to use me, and to love me forever and ever....what small, inadequate words, but thank You my Sovereign Lord, Lover of my soul, God of my heart * whisper, again, thanks*

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

    100 eProps!

You've captured Philippians 4:8 right here...I have been truly blessed to read this. "Thanks, Lord, from the bottom of my heart!" This is the reality that helps the dream to become and remain reality...Fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore are increased when we share them w/ each other, are they not? Better, much, better than gold, right?

  • quest4god

@naphtali_deer@xanga - Your joy is much better than gold to me!  Thanks for the MINI!

After posting this, I had to run outside ( to keep from waking Peggy) and shout "EEYAHOO!"  And then a little dance....

  • naphtali_deer@xanga

@quest4god - Love it. Love HIM! We do! JOY unspeakable bubbled up and out of you in Waxhaw tonight, eh? The same JOY here in Madison, though I've not run outside...

  • llamalima@xanga

I don't think you need an invitation to praise God...=) We certainly have a lot to be thankful for.

  • quest4god

@llamalima@xanga - Yes!  And I am thankful for you, Brother!

@llamalima@xanga - No, we don't need an invitation but sometimes we do need a reminder. We get distracted, we lose our focus, our vision...God knows that. The Bible is filled with all those reminders, e.g.- consider the Psalms: "Praise the Lord" throughout. We are so dense, such fools we have to be told sometimes to "Praise the Lord." We've known Him and yet we forget to praise Him! How ridiculous of us. The brutish and foolish man in Psalm 73. We get that way. Yet as we come to know Him more and more, become more and more intimate w/ Him, the joy and praise will overflow even in the worst of times...there will be no stopping it. That's what the world needs to see out of Christians. Not stodgy, joyless automatons but living, joyful children dancing and rejoicing in Him.

@quest4god - How late did you stay up last night anyhow?

Acts 2:12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean? 13 But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.

14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:

17 “And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy..."

Would that the whole Church would get God-intoxicated! Imagine it! That's what we're praying for!

@naphtali_deer@xanga - Sometimes I forget the hour.  Talking with God - He doing most of the talking, hopefully.  Praising Him and giving thanks- my favorite thing to do!  Writing, studying- I could wish I had nothing else to do!

Yes, the Holy Spirit empowering them, the young church literally exploded!  My, what a testimony that will be to the greatness and the holiness and the power of God when He once again pours out His Spirit as He has promised in these last days!   I am eagerly anticipating all of that!

  • naphtali_deer@xanga

@quest4god - I asked about being up late in part since @llamalima@xanga caught me awake at some very odd hours not long ago...(And we know as "older" believers, we're to be setting a good example, right?   But it's ok to be awake w/ joy, isn't it? )

We are praying for God to pour our His power like He did in Acts. We need to keep looking to what God did then b/c He is the same God and He can do and wants to do the same things again...

    By His grace...

    We pray without ceasing.
    We march without ceasing.
    We praise without ceasing.

    STAY STRONG! RAWR!

  • quest4god

@naphtali_deer@xanga - you may think that I remind you to be joyful, but so often you remind me!

STAY STRONG! RAWR!....brings a smile to my face!    ( silly grin )

llamalima lives in a distinctly different time zone.  I can' t figure out if he's staying up late or getting up early or what....

  • Christenstein@xanga

Praise the Lord!  God is good!

  • quest4god

@Christenstein@xanga - Nice to hear from you!  Yes, God certainly is good!!

  • llamalima@xanga

@quest4god - Oh no, i don't sleep too late. For example, it's 2.45pm right now.

I see my Rawr, Make War phrase is catching on...=)
  • Pickwick12@xanga

    Great post.

Just came by to apologize since I never heard back from you. I'm sorry for offending you in any way.

  • quest4god

@Pickwick12@xanga - Thanks for coming by...my oversight, no offence taken personally.  "Let us love one another,"  He says...and I do love you in the Lord, Amy.  I want so much for the whole Church to be revived...to once again become a force and a testimony for God - beginning with me.
