  • Can You Sing? Can You Dance?

Has it ever happened to you?  Has someone told you that you can't sing..."Please, let the professionals sing."  Maybe your voice doesn't sound pleasing to some, but to the Lord you sound wonderful.  Halelluiah, He is Wonderful!  How glorious to join in with the chorus of angels!  They won't drown out your voice - God will hear you and delight in your praise.  He will bless you beyond all measure as you allow your praise and worship to flow out freely - let go, let Him hear you.  He loves it!

What about your dancing?   Do you like to dance, but others say, "you have no rhythm, you can't dance?"  Have you felt like dancing as you praise the Lord?  Go ahead- let it out!  The Bible says that David danced before the Lord.  The Lord had that recorded for a reason...He wants His children to dance and rejoice in His presence.  You can dance for Him - He delights in your jubilation and joy!  He will never say that you can't dance or that you can't sing.

I don't know what kind of church you attend, but it may be that no one in your church has ever entertained the thought of dancing there because they've never seen anything like that in church.  Maybe in your church no one ever raises their hands in praise or during worship and prayer.  So, maybe that would not be the thing to do in your church....maybe.  There is something contagious about passion and zeal for the Lord.  The Holy Spirit in your neighbor begins to infect you with His  holiness and next thing you know there is an urge to let go.  You have a longing to kneel in prayer or fall prostrate on the floor.  You start singing a little more surely, you feel yourself swaying in time with the music.  You even (for a moment) consider dancing - a little.

When you get home from church next time, try a little singing and dancing before the Lord.  Put on some revival music - especially live recordings so that you can get the effect of being with hundreds of believers all praising the Lord and dancing with great joy.  Let yourself be one of those believers.  Open up your heart and your mouth.  When you're too tired to dance anymore, keep singing.  You will be surprised at just how far into worship you can get.  Scripture will come to mind.  Other songs will flow.  Your love and gratitude for the Lord will find expression that you've only fleetingly thought of before.

Let the Lord, not Simon from American Idol, be the judge of your "talent."  Go ahead - sing.  Let it go - dance.  It will do your soul and mind and body a world, no, a heaven, of good!
