My First Christmas in Heaven
This poem is purported to have been written by a young boy ,13 years old, named Ben just prior to his home-going. It was used in a memorial service for my wife and others who are in Heaven for their first Christmas. Please don't argue that the celebration there isn't the same as ours. Christ is all in all. Our spiritual birth would not have been possible but for His coming to live among us in the flesh. We here see as in a mirror darkly, but then face to face. I am looking with great anticipation to sharing the Heavenly celebration of our Dear Savior and His gift to us:
I see the countless
Christmas trees
around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snowThe sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart. So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love. After all, love is a gift more precious
than pure gold.
was always most important
the stories Jesus told. Please love and keep each other,
my Father said to do.
I can't count the blessing or love
has for each of you.So have a Merry Christmas and
Wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this yearMay God bless you all so bountifully with joy, and may none who read this be lost. Christ died for the ungodly. That's you and I. If you've not come to the Savior for forgiveness of your sins and to receive His Holy Spirit, I pray that this will be your first Christmas - truly - on earth.

This time of year is so very hard for some. I hope this will comfort them.
@mtngirlsouth@xanga - Yes, even though I know my Peggy is now with Jesus, I also am comforted by this poem. She was such an enthusiast of Christmas! I'm not even going to try to imitate the joyous celebration in the manner she did. I am thankful, though, for the assurance that someday (maybe soon) I will celebrate Jesus with her again. Thank you for your comforting comment.
I pray the Lord gives you an extra measure of grace this time of year!
I like the poem especially because it underscores the reality of our living hope - Christ among us and Christ the eternal heavenly lover of our souls.
I'm heartened to know we will celebrate the person of Jesus for all eternity!
Yes, Christmas on earth! We celebrate from henceforth and forevermore!
@templestream@xanga - Thanks, Rick! It is so good to hear from you! May this Christmas be ever-so-special for you and your family! Let's celebrate Jesus!!
@naphtali_deer@xanga - Henceforth and forever more! I love that! Thanks for your comment, and just in case I don't get another chance, "Merry Christmas" to you all!
@quest4god - I guess I was in KJV mode or something.
Thanks for your Christmas greeting. Same to you and yours, bro!
@naphtali_deer@xanga - No, the "change" was mine, due to my "extreme cleverness." I was trying to emphasize the "more," meaning that our praise will increase forever! (The NKJV is the same as KJV on that.)
Very good....I lost my good friend to cancer this year and this made me think of her.....beautiful thoughts....
@Bumblypick@xanga - I am glad you were led to a good place in your thoughts through this post. We want so much to keep those we have loved, but God has even better things for them - for us too! Thanks for your comment.
