Lately I have pulsed several times on forgiveness. There is a reason. God, in His wonderful mercy and grace has forgiven me some things that I would be hard-pressed to forgive others, had they been done to me. Not only that, but friends and family are also forgiving. Those who are averse to thoughts of forgiveness have a bondage and a boundary that is not always evident, but comes into play at all the wrong times. Withholding grace, for a Christian is a deplorable thing - one that we should always seek to overcome. Forgive us Lord, as we have forgiven others.
From my inbox this morning:
"Mercy is the key that sets a prisoner free. It extends grace in place of judgment, forgiveness in place of punishment, and honor in place of disdain. It makes no sense, except to a heart filled with God's unconditional love."
"Mercy is a gift God asks you to give to others - not because they deserve it, but because of the mercy God has demonstrated in your own life. Ask God to bring to mind anyone who could use a tender touch of mercy. Depending on how God leads you to bestow this special gift, the one who receives it may never even be fully aware of its extent. But, you will. You'll find that being merciful frees up your own heart to love more authentically."
With all my heart, Father, I thank you for the wondrous grace and mercy You have demonstrated at the cross in Your Son, Jesus. I thank You for the reminders that Your Holy Spirit prods me with at those times when I find myself harboring anger toward those who have wronged me. Amen
Amen! Long time! Thanks for visiting my site! God bless, ~ Pete
"Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you..." Isaiah 43:4 (ref. my Xanga post of 1/24/2010 AD)
That's lovely...it is amazing all the wrongs God forgives us of, isn't it? Thank you God!
@GreekPhysique@xanga - Yes! His ability to forgive is based on the full and complete atonement for our sins by Christ on the cross. It is so amazing that He would do that for us and for His glory, but our faith is built on nothing less. Thank you for coming by and for your comment!
@Evangelist_Guy@xanga - You're welcome and thank you also. We need to support each other in the gospel.
The older that I become, the more I relish God's incredible mercy shown this wicked old man.
@ANVRSADDAY@xanga -We have nothing else to compare but our own selves with Christ's goodness. The most beautiful love story in the world is that of His creation of us for Himself and His redemption of us at Christ's expense. I thank Him along with you for His mercy and grace toward me.
