Life Seems To Be Caving In?
Some of you may know that I am in a transition period....still, after 11 months of adjustment to loss and accompanying growth. This little quote from Catherine Marshall came across my desk today. It's not earthshakingly new, it's just good advice - and I need it:
" When life caves in we are to seek God in our problem. He always works for our good to seek to bring good and wholeness out of evil and life situations/poor choices, etc. We may have to bear the consequences of our choices and the choices of others but we can learn and grow in the process. Will we choose to be bitter or better?
When the door closes, open wide the window!! "May God bless you all, and keep you in the midst of the storms of life.

That's good advice, God bless you! <3
It is a great reminder for me as well. Thanks.
So very true! Truth at least as old as Job! We may not understand the whys? But God is always good and so, also, are His intentions toward us! So we can look to Him with confidence and trust. This is NOT mere positive thinking.
God is seeking to bring us good THROUGH all things, both the good and the bad circumstances of life.
His good = seeking His face, being conformed into His image, loving Him more and more.
@guestbrief@xanga -Thanks for your comment. I am posting it for my own instruction too.
@TheGreatBout@xanga - Thanks to you. We need to hide this in our hearts. We all will have times that we will need it.
@onjerusalemhill@xanga - You are so right! The vague "Everything happens for a reason" doesn't refer us back to God as the One who is working all things for good to them who love Him, who are the called according to His purpose.
@naphtali_deer@xanga - Right! I hadn't included that our highest good is to seek His face, to give Him glory in all things. While we are IN the bad things, as I said, is when this truth needs to be part of us.
Bitter or better, huh? Are those two mutually exclusive?
I am pondering this...
@JstNotherDay@xanga - Maybe "bitter" might be a first reaction, but knowing that "better" is God's way can help us repent of bitterness. You know how sometimes it takes a little while to realize how good something tasted? That's what I want...to savor what God has given me - even if it's not right at the moment.
@quest4god - Hmm... I'm afraid of losing my 'taste'... for ever...
@naphtali_deer@xanga - I read about Naphtali tonight in a book I've been using for a paper. I thought of you immediately.
@TheGreatBout@xanga -
Thanks! I didn't realize you were in school again until I watched your vlogs. (Better you than me.
)
@naphtali_deer@xanga - Yeah... It is only a two year program though and I'm past halfway done with the second semester so I only have 1 year left. Then... if I'm foolish enough, I may go for the doctorate.
@TheGreatBout@xanga - ;-D But not foolish if it's God's plan for you.
