April 11, 2010
This is 2011, I know, but on this day one year ago, my whole life changed. While I was asleep beside my wife, the angels came and escorted her to heaven. Many people have seen my tributes to her since then, and may even be a little tired of hearing about her. She was a wonderful person as well as being my love.
Since that time, I have learned that the promises of God hold true even in these situations. I have grieved...am still grieving her loss, but God has kept me all the time very close to His heart. Peggy was truly my best friend, the one who knew me better than anyone else - except God. The remarkable thing about Peggy's friendship and God's friendship is that in both cases the relationship never waivered. Naturally I am not comparing any human being to God. He is totally other and far above anyone we can think of.
So this is my little remembrance of the wonderful person who graced my life for nearly 32 years and a thankyou to the wonderful God who gave her to me. Amen

Definitely not tired of hearing about your wonderful wife and the beautiful life you had together, Norm. I'm thinking of you and praying for you today.
@Pickwick12@xanga - Thanks so much, Amy! May God bless you!
Always good to remember. Memory stones are always welcomed especially ones that remind you of God's revelations of His grace and love in your life. :)
@Christenstein@xanga - Thanks for your comment. Haven't heard from you in a while.
Memories are so important and I never tire of hearing tributes to those who loved and were loved as much as your beloved wife loved you and you her. You are in my prayers.
Never forget her friend! Keep sharing and remember the hope you have that one day, you will see her again!
Grace and peace be with you!
~Michael
@stephensmustang@xanga - Thank you for your kind words...they are true, regarding Peggy and I.
@MC_Shann@xanga - Thanks Michael. I appreciate your exhortation also!
Tired of hearing about her? No, Sir. None of my marriages went the distance, My Friend. There is a part of me which envies you, even as you mourn her loss. I believe in heavenly reunions. Absolutely confident about that! When your time here is finished, you and she will be having a doozy!
@onjerusalemhill@xanga - Thank you so much for rejoicing in my rejoicing/mourning even though you've had bad experiences. I appreciate it!
@naphtali_deer@xanga -Thanks Karen! And thanks for the MINI! Yes, God is SO good! Relationships mean so much to us because He has made us for Himself. May He receive glory and honor forever! Everyone has been supportive and caring. I want to be that for others too!
@naphtali_deer@xanga - I see there's a rec from you. Thanks again and again, Sis!
@quest4god - You're welcome, Bro! And yes, I want to be that for others as well. 2 Cor. 1...
"Personally, I would rather have the spiritual gift of bringing life to
one broken heart than the ability to preach a thousand sermons. Indeed,
any public ministry which has not at its heart something of the
tenderness which has come because of the personal experience of what
Paul calls "the sufferings of Christ" is lacking in the one thing that
really matters...This is not a ministry that we will acquire at the university, or at a
college, or at any school, but it is something that the Holy Spirit will
give to us. It is He who will be our strength and enduement. But He
will come to us only in the measure that we have entered into the
affliction which the Lord said would be the portion of His people." (Alan Redpath's "Blessings out of Buffetings")
@naphtali_deer@xanga - I haven't read him before, I don't think. But do you know how radically the Lord is changing my outlook? I think the fact that He has given me such a strong insistence on doctrine in spite of the heart He also has given is the reason for this change. Love and speaking the truth in love are inseparable. Christ is the truth. Can we think of another who has such love? Thank you for this quote. I'll be looking for that work or other writings of his.
Wow, has it been a whole year, it seemed such a short time ago! I'm sure for you it must seem as a eternity. But someday soon we'll be together in heaven, and forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I look forward to that goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
@quest4god - He'd pastored in England, then was a pastor at Moody Church from 1953-62, and then returned to England. The quote is from his sermons on II Corinthians; I wrote a little about the book here. You can find some of his sermons here. After I looked up that quote and glanced at that post, I realized I should probably pull out my Redpath books again sometime. :) Too many books. :P
Right doctrine leads to a right heart.
@llamalima@xanga - Yes, and thank you for your encouragement. We know these things, but it doesn't hurt to remind one another of them.
@naphtali_deer@xanga - Thank you for the info and the links. I want to look into them further. (I'm going out for a bit right now). Above all, I want my heart and mind to be His and fixed on Him....my Lord, that is!
I can't even begin to image such a deep love. You truly are blessed even in your terrible loss.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace@xanga - That deep love was a beautiful gift from God. It seemed that nothing was too hard to deal with in our marriage - not even death. Thank you for your comment!
Long time! How have you been? God bless, ~ Pete
"Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you..." Isaiah 43:4 (ref. my Xanga post of 2/21/2011 AD)
Hey... really appreciate that you have been dropping by to encourage me once in a while.
I am not good when it comes to comforting for those who suffer losses. I too grieve for losses for several years. But the promise that those who sleep in Christ are now with Christ encourages me as I know that communion with Him is our purpose.
So, I hope that you take comfort in this too.
@renjinko@xanga - Thank you so much for YOUR encouragement!
Hey there, I've seen you around on Xanga/Revelife and I never popped by your site... though now that I have, I'm not sure why I didn't! Haha. Anyway, it's good to know more fellow Christ-followers on Xanga/Revelife. I'm sorry to read about your wife's passing, but your attitude towards this is totally admirable. May God bless you and comfort you as He always had.
