It's not about me
What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labor of each. For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's building.
-1 Corinthians 3:5-9 (NRSV)How wonderful that God is in charge! We don't have to convince anyone to believe or receive Christ....How foolish and presumptuous that sounds anyway. However, we are to be ready to share and show our faith.

Very nice.
so true =)
@Lucy_or_Ethel@xanga - Thank you! I am so glad you stopped by!
@canadiansrock@xanga - Thank you, too! Glad to "see" you!
@canadiansrock@xanga - Thanks for the rec!
I'd read this passage a zillion times, but v. 9 really hit me as I recently read it (in NKJV, the same in the ESV): "...we are God's fellow workers..." Consider that: God's fellow workers!
@naphtali_deer@xanga - Those are my two favorite versions, but I hadn't checked them out yet. There is so much to our fellowship with God. Our relationship is as sons as well, but the "fellow workers" is so encouraging! Now when we reflect on the "effectiveness" of our ministry, we realize that we haven't seen the full extent of it. God is the author and finisher of our faith - and that of others!
@quest4god - Yes! The devil wants to get us to forget that our God is an ever present help, so we might be dismayed and discouraged! This is why we have to keep exhorting / encouraging one another. We don't really have any true sense of the mighty power of God! To think, we only get a few drops of the infinite supply while we are here on our pilgrimage. But wherever the river goes everything LIVES!
@naphtali_deer@xanga - "We don't really have any true sense of the mighty power of God!" How true! if we did, we wouldn't be so inclined to try to "help" Him!
@quest4god - Exactly!
