    Does my past dictate my attitude about what I perceive to be our best offering to God during Sunday morning worship services? Do those who argue with me think of me as an elitist? Can folks who have not been exposed to excellence in their lives be proper judges about quality in music, the best we can offer to the God of the universe who died for our sins?


    The following excerpt from an article I wrote some time ago may explain why my preferences lean toward quality, based on experience.


    A preteen sitting in the back seat of our family car with his mother in the front passenger seat has a chance to share dreams and concerns with her. This was my situation while waiting for Dad to join us for the trip home early Sunday afternoon after church. Dad was "supply" pastor for four small country Methodist churches.
